Four vacation windows at a glance
MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools share these four vacation periods in 2027. International school, junior college and tertiary calendars may differ.
| Vacation | Dates |
|---|---|
| March | Saturday 13 March to Sunday 21 March |
| Mid-year | Saturday 29 May to Sunday 27 June |
| September | Saturday 4 September to Sunday 12 September |
| Year-end | Saturday 20 November to Friday 31 December |

These are the standard vacation ranges. Schools hosting the Singapore-Cambridge SEC written examinations finish their final term on 29 October 2027. Check the child's own school calendar before choosing an event date; an earlier end of term does not make the campus available for hire.
School-only days off
These school-only dates are not public holidays. For a company operating Monday to Friday, they can be dates to consider for a kids-at-work programme, subject to the company's schedule and each family's arrangements. Check the pupil's school-level calendar and any student-care or KCare provider separately; the table is not a universal childcare closure or campus-booking calendar.
| Date | Day | Reason | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 February | Tuesday | Day off after Chinese New Year | MOE schools |
| 3 May | Monday | Day off for Labour Day | MOE schools |
| 5 July | Monday | Youth Day school closure | MOE schools |
| 10 August | Tuesday | Day off after National Day | MOE schools |
| 3 September | Friday | Teachers' Day | MOE schools |
| 8 October | Friday | Children's Day | Primary schools and primary sections of full schools |
27 December (Monday) is also a school day off for Christmas, but it already falls within the year-end vacation. School-only closure dates and level restrictions are from the MOE announcement reproduced by STU; Children's Day is not a secondary-school holiday.
Public holiday or school-only day: what changes for event planning
The school and public calendars answer different questions. A public holiday does not establish a family's availability, and a school-only day does not establish anyone's work arrangement. Use these two date pairs to discuss the proposed event with the company, families and venue:
| Public holiday | Next day (school-only) | Planning difference |
|---|---|---|
| Monday 8 February (Chinese New Year observed) | Tuesday 9 February (school day off) | Monday is a public holiday. Tuesday is a school-only day off; check whether the company operates that day. |
| Monday 9 August (National Day) | Tuesday 10 August (school day off) | Monday is a public holiday. Tuesday is a school-only day off; check the participating families and office schedule. |
The public dates above are checked against MOM's 2027 announcement. The school-only Mondays on 3 May and 5 July are also possible discussion points for a company running a Monday-to-Friday schedule. Confirm its actual operating day; these calendar labels do not establish pay, leave or attendance arrangements.
Choosing between a kids-at-work weekday and a family event
For a kids-at-work event, start by checking whether the company can host children on a proposed operating day. Then confirm the ages attending, usable activity space, access and programme hours. A school-only day or a vacation weekday gives you a date to discuss, rather than confirmation that an office can accommodate the selected rentals.
For a corporate family day, compare the proposed date with the families' schedules and the venue's access window. For a school carnival, ask the school which dates and spaces it can actually release, including examination use. Decide whether the event is for pupils during a school programme or for families outside it; the holiday calendar alone does not answer that.
Before choosing activities, use the venue preparation checklist to record room measurements, delivery access, power and permissions. Then compare the activity mix with the available space. Both event formats need company, venue and provider confirmation; a school holiday does not establish childcare arrangements or rental availability.
Quotation checklist
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Event date and whether it is a public holiday, school day off or vacation weekday | Lets the team check the proposed date and delivery window |
| Event hours | State the programme, access, setup and collection windows separately |
| Venue address and type (indoor or outdoor) | Include measurements, access and power so suitability can be checked |
| Expected headcount and age range | Gives context for discussing the activity mix, subject to item and venue checks |
| Budget range | Helps the team propose a realistic activity mix |
For the next step, the event quotation guide explains the information to prepare. Send the date, venue and item shortlist together so the team can check the actual requirements. This calendar provides planning context; it is not a booking confirmation.
